Fresh pitahaya buyers 2026

In 2026, 462 companies bought US$ 211.29 million of fresh pitahaya from Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Colombia, in 6,431 shipments that declare a buyer. Buyers in the United States took 61.9% of that value at US$ 3.55 per kilo. The 10 largest buyers took 41.9% and the three largest 20.6%.

I went through the customs export records of the four countries, shipment by shipment, to see who bought, from whom and at what price. I counted fresh pitahaya under subheading 081090 and the shipments that name their buyer, from January to the latest month each country has published: October for Ecuador and Peru, August for Mexico and Colombia. The price per kilo is the value divided by the net kilos, and it leaves out sales between companies of one group and shipments declared at more than five times the median price or under a fifth of it.

Ecuador sold US$ 207.51 million of the total, 98.2%, to 346 buyers through 148 exporters, at US$ 3.55 per kilo. Mexico sold US$ 1.60 million to 20 buyers, Peru US$ 1.19 million to 51 buyers at US$ 2.18 per kilo, and Colombia US$ 990,514 to 102 buyers at US$ 5.54.
