From January to August 2026, 229 exporters in Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Colombia shipped US$ 224.64 million of fresh pitahaya, 68,385 tonnes at US$ 3.62 per kilo. In the same months of 2025, 254 exporters shipped US$ 243.22 million, 60,414 tonnes at US$ 4.29. The tonnes rose 13.2%, while the value fell 7.6% and the price per kilo 15.6%.
I went through the customs export records of Ecuador, Peru (SUNAT), Mexico and Colombia (DIAN) shipment by shipment, from January 2025 to the latest day each one has published: the 24th of October 2026 for Ecuador, the 19th of October for Peru and the last day of August for Mexico and Colombia. I counted fresh pitahaya only, so frozen and dried fruit are not in these figures. The comparisons between years use January to August, the last month all four countries have published. The price per kilo is the value divided by the net kilos, and it leaves out sales between companies of one group and shipments declared at more than five times the median price or under a fifth of it. Since January 2025, 348 exporters shipped US$ 641.19 million in 23,999 shipments.

Ecuador shipped more and its price per kilo fell
Ecuador sold US$ 219.95 million from January to August 2026 at US$ 3.64 per kilo, and 151 Ecuadorian exporters shipped in those months, against 159 a year earlier. Its tonnes rose 13.5% from the same months of 2025, and its price fell 15.7%.
The kilo of Ecuadorian pitahaya sold at US$ 4.08 in January 2026, above the US$ 3.62 of January 2025. From February the price stayed under the year before. It sold at US$ 3.73 in April 2026 against US$ 5.15, at US$ 3.38 in May against US$ 5.77 and at US$ 3.26 in June against US$ 4.65. In August it sold at US$ 3.37, against US$ 3.85.
More tonnes from April
In January and February Ecuador shipped fewer tonnes than the year before, 10,175 and 9,726 in 2026 against 10,793 and 11,221 in 2025. From April it shipped more every month. It sent 7,527 tonnes in April 2026 against 5,511, 6,939 in May against 4,875 and 7,636 in August against 4,328.
The value moved less than the tonnes, because the price fell. In May 2026 Ecuador earned US$ 22.84 million, against US$ 29.13 million in May 2025, with 2,064 more tonnes. In September 2026 it shipped 8,644 tonnes, against 6,375 in September 2025.
The largest exporters
Sbd, in Ecuador, shipped US$ 34.00 million in 2026, 9,071 tonnes at US$ 3.75 per kilo, to nine buyers in four countries. Buyers in the United States took US$ 23.23 million of it and the Netherlands US$ 9.18 million. Hlb Specialties bought US$ 16.96 million. From January to August its value rose 135.3% from the same months of 2025.
Equadragon Fruit shipped US$ 31.48 million in 2026, 10,446 tonnes at US$ 2.89 per kilo, to 23 buyers in eight countries. Spain took US$ 7.20 million, the United States US$ 5.90 million and the Netherlands US$ 5.20 million. Schrijvershof bought US$ 3.71 million and Ar Produce US$ 2.90 million.
Sidelsur shipped US$ 19.90 million, 8,838 tonnes at US$ 2.67 per kilo, to four buyers, and Alk Trading bought US$ 14.44 million of it. From January to August its value fell 51.3% from the same months of 2025.
Gofc Golden Flowers shipped US$ 16.80 million to buyers in Spain, the United States and Canada. Jgfruitsexport shipped US$ 11.74 million at US$ 4.22 per kilo, and Friedas Specialty Produce bought US$ 6.76 million of it. Frutexom shipped US$ 11.10 million, all of it to the United States, and Farm Direct Supply bought US$ 7.32 million. Picaler Exportacion e Importacion shipped US$ 11.00 million at US$ 3.52 per kilo to 19 buyers in five countries.
The exporters with the most buyers
Since January 2025, 48 exporters sold to 10 buyers or more and 19 to 20 or more. Comercializadora y Exportadora Pitayumi sold to 55 buyers, US$ 3.18 million at US$ 2.52 per kilo. Equadragon Fruit sold to 45 and Tropigold to 39.
Ecuafields sold to 35 buyers, and Picaler Exportacion e Importacion and F Lp Latinoamerican Perishables del Ecuador to 33 each. Tempusalliance and Calderon Noblecilla Julio Cesar Enrique sold to 25 each.
In 2026, 63 exporters shipped that had not shipped in 2025, for US$ 6.15 million. Another 102 that shipped in 2025 have not shipped in 2026 so far.
Red, yellow and white pitahaya
In 2026, shipments declared as red pitahaya added up to US$ 104.47 million at US$ 3.53 per kilo, in 2,814 shipments. Yellow pitahaya added up to US$ 60.13 million at US$ 3.51, in 2,559 shipments. Pitahaya declared as white or white-fleshed added up to US$ 11.29 million at US$ 5.27 per kilo, in 163 shipments. Another US$ 62.60 million went out without a variety in the description.
Peru, Colombia and Mexico
Peru sold US$ 1.27 million from January to August 2026 at US$ 2.31 per kilo, against US$ 1.58 million at US$ 2.73 in the same months of 2025. It had 28 exporters, two more than a year earlier. Since January 2025, Camposol shipped US$ 1.04 million to seven buyers at US$ 2.34 per kilo, Fruitxchange US$ 612,560 and Export Baleno US$ 340,796. Spain bought US$ 1.52 million of Peruvian pitahaya since January 2025 and the Netherlands US$ 0.85 million.
Colombia sold US$ 0.95 million from January to August 2026 at US$ 5.59 per kilo, the highest price of the four countries, against US$ 1.25 million at US$ 5.35 a year earlier. Etnico Company shipped US$ 456,834 since January 2025 to 22 buyers. Brazil bought US$ 0.62 million of Colombian pitahaya in that time and the United Arab Emirates US$ 0.53 million.
Mexico was the only one of the four that grew in value, with US$ 2.47 million from January to August 2026, 42.0% more than in 2025, at US$ 3.08 per kilo. Samuel Aguilar Juarez shipped US$ 1.92 million since January 2025, to one buyer. Buyers in the United States took US$ 4.64 million of the US$ 4.71 million that Mexico shipped since January 2025.
